The Complete, Pelletised, Calf Starter Ration
Topcalf® Formula 20 is a balanced ration suitable for use in all calf rearing situations. It provides an excellent combination of essential amino acids for lean muscle growth in young calves, along with high levels of starch and sugars to drive early rumen development.
TopCalf® Formula 20 is designed to maximise nutrient intake early in a calf’s development when the rumen is small. It can be used as a starter ration or throughout the calf rearing process.
Balanced Protein and Energy: striking the right balance of degradable protein, fermentable carbohydrate and fibre underpins the development of the rumen papillae and ‘bugs’. The etabolisable (or digestible) nutrients provided in this ration enable calves to reach weight and frame growth targets during milk and pasture feeding phases.
Fermentable Carbohydrates: contains high levels of wheat, maize and barley, high starch cereal grains that contribute to papillae development and vascularisation while helping to meet calves’ total energy requirements.
Flavouring: contains molasses and enhanced flavouring to attract calves to the feeder and encourage early intake. This also helps to smooth the transition between feeds in the TopCalf® range of products.
No Palm Kernel: energy and protein are provided from high quality cereal grains and protein meals in a very digestible form.
Trace Minerals and Vitamins: delivers a balanced blend of trace minerals and vitamins essential to immune system development and growth in young calves.
Pelleted: to minimise the risk of salmonella, improve digestibility and avoid waste associated with spillage.
High Dry Matter Levels: providing concentrated nutrients, e.g. 1kg of pellets compares to 3-4kg of ensiled products.
Rumensin®: to aid in the control of coccidiosis, a disease that attacks the digestive system of calves.
Effective fibre (hay or straw) and fresh drinking water should also always be available to calves.
